Kayla Sunderland Staff Reporter  JV football faces off against   Waukee on September 4,2015 Staff Reporter The JV football team plays Waukee at Waukee High School Stadium at 4:45pm on Friday, September 4th. This will be the second game of the season for the team. Freshman Jessica Gruber will be cheering at the game with rest of the JV football cheer squad, and gives her opinion on how well the football team will do and her favorite thing about cheer leading. “I’d say my favorite thing is the reaction of the crowd when you finish a cheer.” said Gruber. Many students attend the games and help cheer on the team along with the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders often get the crowd pumped up and loud. Pete Ruden Staff Reporter             A staple in Southeast Polk athletics since reaching the state championship game in 2006, the football team has already started spring “seven on seven” workouts.             A football seven on seven is when the offense’s quarterback, running backs and wide receivers go against the defense’s linebackers and defensive backs in an all-passing, fast paced competition.             “It gets the team together and helps us get to know each other when it’s not necessarily football season,” safety Michael Altes said. “[We can] have fun and just get work done.”             After a 6-5 season and another trip to the postseason, the Rams are looking to make it back again. Claire Strickland Opinion Editor             Football coach Dennis Muller resigned a few months back and his job has now been filled. Brad Zelenovich, previously head Ankeny football coach and Southeast Polk’s own offensive coordinator, has been called for the job.             “ When I heard Zelenovich was our new head coach I was so excited!! The whole school had been waiting to find out who our new head coach would be ,and there were rumors that Zelenovich applied and was coming back, but I was so excited to find out he officially got the job,” said junior Eric Pingel. Drew Brown Staff Reporter      After over a decade of coaching at Southeast Polk, Coach Dennis Muller resigns as head coach of the football team. Muller has been coaching the Varsity football team for 13 years and has led the Rams with the factory worker’s mentality.       “Southeast Polk has always been a very aggressive team…” says Muller “…I feel that someone younger would have more energy to coach the team.”      Muller resigned for several reasons including health issues which led to cutting back on coaching because it had led to a lot of stress on the longtime coach.  Muller has been thinking about resigning for the past couple of years because of the stress and family issues.        “My brother is very ill and we don’t know how much longer he will be around so I want to spend as much time with him as I possibly can,” says Muller.       “I don’t think the traditions will change, I thi...
