Before we know it, this school year
will be long gone and it will be summer again. It may not seem this way for
freshmen and sophomores, but for seniors and some juniors these are the final
days before going to college, becoming an adult, and starting their new role in
society through their career. This week, our school counselors are holding
College and Career Readiness presentations in the multi-purpose room for
seniors. These sessions are meant to provide upper-classmen information they
need to know about graduating, applying for colleges, and more.
“Senior seminar helped me think
about what major I wanted to go into,” said senior Jared Harrington.
The times for which seniors go when depend on
their counselors. Brand who has last names A – C as well as Feldmann with last
names D – I have already gone today. Tomorrow, Daugherty’s students whose last
names are J – M go during 3rd hour and Fast’s students whose last
names are N – Sk happens during 4th hour. On Thursday, Nolting’s
seniors with last names Si – Z have theirs during 3rd hour and
Powell’s TAG students go during 4th hour. These lessons are
RAM-PLANNED, so there is no penalty for showing up.
Also, on Monday, October 12th,
seniors can participate in Iowa College Application Campaign Day open anytime
from 8 AM to 8 PM. During this, Counselors and volunteers will be ready in
Library Lab B and can help students complete their college applications if they
need assistance.
Study halls, release periods, or even
during conferences going on next week are great times to come if you need it.
If someone doesn’t have an open chance to come, they may be excused from
classes if necessary.
