Pets are already cute. Want to make them even cuter? Dress them up for the holidays! People everywhere around the world spend tons of money not only on clothes for themselves, but also for their precious pets.
According to petmd.com, there are ten reasons why people should dress up their pets.
Number ten: clothes can show off your pet’s personality. Whether your pet is tough or flirty, clothes can show their traits off to others.
Number nine: if you wear clothes, there’s a chance your pet wants to as well. If your pet follows you around the house or sits on the couch when you do, try dressing them up like you.
Number eight: it’s cold outside. In December and January it gets extremely cold outside. By dressing your pet up, you are protecting them from the harsh weather.
Number seven: who doesn’t want their pet to be the center of attention? Chances are your pet loves attention, dressing them up is a sure way to receive tons of attention from anyone who sees them.
Number six: it shakes things up. Every day of your pet’s life is most likely the same thing every day. Your pet eats, naps, goes for walks and then sleeps again. Adding a little variety to your pet’s life isn’t a bad thing.
Number five: if they don’t enjoy being dressed up, they just got a new chew toy. The worst thing that can happen from your pet dressing up is them not liking the outfit and they decide to eat it instead. Getting a new toy will still make them happy.
Number four: holidays are more time to spend together. Even something small like dressing your pet up is still spending time together. Your pet loves it.
Number three: you and your pet can represent your favorite team. Dressing your pet up in your favorite team’s jersey is just another way to support them, plus your pet looks even cuter in a jersey.
Number two: matching outfits! This also applies to your pet wanting to do what you do. Not only will you be dressing your pet up, you get to match.
Number one: selfies. Tons of people put their pets in their family Christmas cards. Why not match outfits and capture it in a photo. Or do something as simple as set the picture as your phone’s background.
Junior Abbie Lane is one of many students who enjoys dressing their pets up. Lane and her boyfriend just recently bought Roscoe, a Jack Russel Terrier puppy from a family in the Des Moines area. Lane loves dressing their dog up agrees that there are benefits from doing it.
“It’s getting cold outside and I don't want my dogs to freeze, plus they're cute and look fashionable in them. At first I was hesitant on dressing up my dogs because I didn't know how I would feel, but once I started doing it I love it. I get so excited and happy when I dress them up because it's adorable. None of my dogs cared, they were confused at first but once it was on them for a while they liked it and got excited,” said Lane.
