      On December 9, 2015 Southeast Polk will be hosting their first Hour of Code after school.
            The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event. One-hour tutorials are available in over 40 languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104 according to the Southeast Polk website.
Junior Maya Barker is taking part in the hour of code.
“I wanted to do hour of code because it seems like something cool I would like,” said Barker. “I don’t know what I want to do with my life when I graduate, so this a good opportunity to see if I like computer technology.”
            The Hour of Code promotes students to get involved in computer sciences. Computer science is every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path. See more stats on code.org.
            A video with more information was played during advisor on Friday December, 4. The video contain many famous public figures coding. Including Iowa native, Ashton Kutcher.
In the video Kutcher said,” Computer science belongs in every school right next to biology, chemistry or algebra.”
