Students attended a Central Region Leadership Conference

 On November 20th, 21st and 22nd a handful of DECA members will be attended the Central Region Leadership Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
DECA is a club at Southeast Polk that focuses on social, competition and leadership events. According to the official deca website, deca.org their mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
Delaney Christian is junior here at Southeast Polk and is a second year member of DECA. Christian and participates in marketing events at DECA competitions. This will be Christian's second year attending the CRLC conference.
“Last year we went to Minneapolis and this year we are going to Kansas City and I have high expectations because last year was really good,” said Christian.
The CRLC conferences consisted of keynote speakers and learning labs. The speakers motivated DECA members to try their hardest to be the best and never give up even when you get knocked down.
The learning labs allowed students to disperse and go to labs that fueled their interests the most.
 “My favorite speaker of the trip was Laymon Hicks and my favorite lab was the networking one. Overall the trip was really fun, and it makes me excited for the rest of the DECA season,” said Christian.

These aren’t just ordinary sticky notes, on every single sticky note there is an inspirational quote to start your day.                 During spring break, students that are a part of stand for the silent got together and made a sticky note for every single locker in this school. Jessica Rish  News Editor The meninist twitter account has been notorious for  putting out hateful content on  twitter regarding social justices like, gender, sexuality, race amongst other thing    Twitter is one of the biggest platform used in the social justice world. Twitter famous social justice accounts dedicate their feed through the use of hashtags, retweets, and tweet threads to educate and inform others on social issues.     Twitter does a good job of supplying a multimedia platform for educating thousands of people and raising awareness with the click of a button, but there is one main problem that can  often be seen  in social justice Twitter: “Dragging” or hateful conduct, can even be considered bullying or attacking/harassment.
