This year’s school pictures were
updated on every student’s infinite campus last Thursday, October 29. Students
have mixed feelings about the new photos, that aren’t necessarily improved.
“I
usually like them. I think it’s a good idea for the yearbooks,” said senior
McKayla Birkenholtz.
This
year though Birkenholtz didn’t approve of the new photo. After hearing word of
a lot of senior’s photos being misplaced and not receiving a picture package
she believed she had been among the unlucky seniors. She knew she would have to
get retakes, but she wasn’t aware of what day they would be. She didn’t have on
what she felt was proper clothes and in turn, really didn’t like her pictures.
“I
hated them,” said Birkenholtz.
School
pictures are taken during orientation before the school year even starts.
Retakes of the first pictures are taken during school sometime after the
pictures that were purchased are delivered to students in their advisers. Freshman, sophomores, and juniors that did not purchase a picture package receive an
envelope with previews in case after seeing their picture they want to purchase
more. Seniors do not receive previews.
Many
seniors didn’t purchase their school pictures because they are already spending
or have spent a lot of money on senior pictures. All the seniors’ school
pictures will appear in the yearbook with red backgrounds even if that is not
what their original background choice was.
A
lot of students either dress up by choice for their pictures or they are forced
to by their parents. Regardless of outfit choice all students, take a seat,
place their feet in the designated footprints, shift their head to any
direction the photographer wishes, fish their hair multiple times, and then
either scowl into the lenses or smile the biggest smile possible. Carrie McGrean
