Many kids in this day and age have so many food allergies that keep them from being able to trick-or-treat safely with their friends. FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) has created a project to allow kids to safely trick-or-treat, without having to worry about their allergies.
The Teal Pumpkin Project, launched in 2014, promotes inclusion of all trick-or-treating throughout the Halloween season. This project began within a small local awareness activity run by the Food Allergy Community of East Tennessee (FACET).  According to http://www.foodallergy.org/, households from all 50 states and throughout seven countries participated in this project.

If anyone would like to participate in this movement, a few steps have to be taken. First, take the pledge promising to help kids all around the world with making their Halloween much more enjoyable. Provide the kids with treats that are not candy, but something else fun instead. Many kids cannot eat the candy provided to them, making this one night a year not as much fun as for the rest of the kids. Paint a pumpkin blue if wanted, or just print off the sign from their website and hang it in front where trick-or-treaters can see it. Someone can also make a donation to FARE to support future kids, but it is not required.
