AP Test Dates are Fast Approaching

                The beginning of May brings many exciting things-one of which is AP testing. AP classes are programs created by the College Board, which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. AP stands for Advanced Placement. Colleges and universities often grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations.
                AP exams will begin at the beginning of May and go through the end of May. Reagan Mackie is a junior who will be taking 4 exams this year.
               “I’m in AP composition, AP psychology, AP world history and AP human geography,” said Mackie.
It is important to start studying at an early date so students can be prepared for the test according to collegeboard.org  
“Yeah, I started studying about two weeks ago. Yes, I’m ready for my test,” Mackie said when asked about the upcoming tests.
A student at Southeast Polk can take many AP classes that include but are not limited to AP calculus, AP U.S history, AP Literature, AP biology, and AP chemistry.
“My hardest class is AP world history,” said Mackie.
Mackie recommends taking AP classes but not too many at the same time. She also says to make sure to balance your schedule.The first AP testing day is Monday, May 4.

School Board Establishes Ban on Yoga Pants

Emily Merkle Design Editor               As of April 1, 2015, The Southeast Polk school board has established a ban on wearing yoga pants or leggings during school hours.               “The only time I can see pants like these deemed appropriate is during school sports like cross country and dance team,” said Principal Aidon Know.                The spandex apparel ban follows under the non-discrimination policy stating “ The Southeast Polk Community School District does not discriminate based on race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, physical attributes , physical or mental ability or disability, ancestry, political party preference, military affiliation, socioeconomic status or familial status.”              The physical attributes section is revealed in yoga pants by how tight the clothing articles are to a person’s body exposing their natural body shape.  By exposing their natural body

Stand for the Silent Posts Sticky Notes

Demi Muchmore Editor in Chief                 Notice the sticky notes on all the lockers as you’re walking in the hallway to class? You have Stand For The Silent members to thank for that. These aren’t just ordinary sticky notes, on every single sticky note there is an inspirational quote to start your day.                 During spring break, students that are a part of stand for the silent got together and made a sticky note for every single locker in this school. Mrs. Goodrich is in charge of this club and actually came up with the idea. “We did it to uplift people after coming back from break,” sophomore Cassidy Oberbroeckling said.                 When asking other students what they thought of the idea, they responded with positive feedback. “It was a very good idea and it was cool to walk around and see all of the different messages,” senior Nic Henderson said.                 Doing these creative messages can really help to brighten a student’s day after everyone
