Stand for the Silent Update

            Wednesday April 8, Stand for the Silent members spoke to staff members at their regular two-hour late start meeting. Sophomores Cassidy Oberbroeckling, Kailie Hesner and junior Missy Rovner spoke in the meeting.
"This morning we presented in front of the SEP high school staff, informing them more about the club Stand for the Silent, including what we do, why we are doing it, what our goals are, and what we are learning while we do it, along with some information about our latest project, the Pieces of Me Campaign," Hesner said.
Stand for the Silent has been traveling to the elementary schools around the district with the junior high and Spring Creek students.
"It felt really great to talk in front of our school’s staff because it's showing them more about who we are and what we do to open up their minds about getting involved and getting to see what some of their students are doing in the community outside the classroom," Hesner said. "It feels awesome hearing feedback from the staff and feeling like we are really making a difference throughout our school and community."
Stand for the Silent meets Thursday mornings in room 165 at 7:15 for anyone that would like to join.

Kaelee Kessee Managing Editor                  In social studies Eric Gross’s AP Human Geography class, students have been learning the skill of answering essay questions that will be seen on the AP tests this May.                 The questions are known as Free Response Questions or FRQs for short. The questions are centered on the material learned in the class throughout the semester. School Board Establishes Ban on Yoga Pants

Emily Merkle Design Editor               As of April 1, 2015, The Southeast Polk school board has established a ban on wearing yoga pants or leggings during school hours.               “The only time I can see pants like these deemed appropriate is during school sports like cross country and dance team,” said Principal Aidon Know.                The spandex apparel ban follows under the non-discrimination policy stating “ The Southeast Polk Community School District does not discriminate based on race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, physical attributes , physical or mental ability or disability, ancestry, political party preference, military affiliation, socioeconomic status or familial status.”              The physical attributes section is revealed in yoga pants by how tight the clothing articles are to a person’s body exposing their natural body shape.  By exposing their natural body

Stand for the Silent Posts Sticky Notes

Demi Muchmore Editor in Chief                 Notice the sticky notes on all the lockers as you’re walking in the hallway to class? You have Stand For The Silent members to thank for that. These aren’t just ordinary sticky notes, on every single sticky note there is an inspirational quote to start your day.                 During spring break, students that are a part of stand for the silent got together and made a sticky note for every single locker in this school. Mrs. Goodrich is in charge of this club and actually came up with the idea. “We did it to uplift people after coming back from break,” sophomore Cassidy Oberbroeckling said.                 When asking other students what they thought of the idea, they responded with positive feedback. “It was a very good idea and it was cool to walk around and see all of the different messages,” senior Nic Henderson said.                 Doing these creative messages can really help to brighten a student’s day after everyone
