Volleyball Meeting Friday 4/24

            Students who play volleyball have a mandatory meeting on Friday morning at 7:15. The meeting will take place in Mr. Parkers room, N273.
            “The meeting will mostly be about future summer open gym dates,” said sophomore volleyball player Maya Barker. For students who plan on playing volleyball during the next fall season, the meeting is highly recommended.
            “I want varsity to make it to state of course, but also a good team record for all of the teams,” Barker said. Students who play volleyball attend summer open gyms, where lots of preparations occur. Drills, games and conditioning take place at the open gyms every morning.
            “During the offseason there are open gyms and sand volleyball clubs and tournament teams and we all pretty much go off on our own training,” Barker said.
            The meeting on Friday morning will be held by varsity coach, Matt Parker. This meeting will include information about the summer open gym dates, sand volleyball leagues, and also information regarding the upcoming season.
             If a student plans on playing volleyball, or is just thinking about it, this meeting is highly encouraged to attend. It will give information and will help answer any questions one might have.

School Board Establishes Ban on Yoga Pants

Emily Merkle Design Editor               As of April 1, 2015, The Southeast Polk school board has established a ban on wearing yoga pants or leggings during school hours.               “The only time I can see pants like these deemed appropriate is during school sports like cross country and dance team,” said Principal Aidon Know.                The spandex apparel ban follows under the non-discrimination policy stating “ The Southeast Polk Community School District does not discriminate based on race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, physical attributes , physical or mental ability or disability, ancestry, political party preference, military affiliation, socioeconomic status or familial status.”              The physical attributes section is revealed in yoga pants by how tight the clothing articles are to a person’s body exposing their natural body shape.  By exposing their natural body

Stand for the Silent Posts Sticky Notes

Demi Muchmore Editor in Chief                 Notice the sticky notes on all the lockers as you’re walking in the hallway to class? You have Stand For The Silent members to thank for that. These aren’t just ordinary sticky notes, on every single sticky note there is an inspirational quote to start your day.                 During spring break, students that are a part of stand for the silent got together and made a sticky note for every single locker in this school. Mrs. Goodrich is in charge of this club and actually came up with the idea. “We did it to uplift people after coming back from break,” sophomore Cassidy Oberbroeckling said.                 When asking other students what they thought of the idea, they responded with positive feedback. “It was a very good idea and it was cool to walk around and see all of the different messages,” senior Nic Henderson said.                 Doing these creative messages can really help to brighten a student’s day after everyone
